Bob's Birthday Bash @ Blackhawk

This past Friday (May 1st) my friend Bob decided to celebrate his birthday by heading up to Blackhawk for a bit of good food, drinking, and gambling. Not wanting to be the sober drivers we all decided to gather up and take the Casino Bus up. Which wasn't so bad it was a smooth ride and I got to start reading my book Ender in Exile.
We started off the evening gathering up at this nice small restaurant called Crooks Palace. It was a cozy place, with a rustic and saloon type of feel to it. At first any person would first guess that this place was like any other bar and grill. The food seemed normal enough anyway. The different though was the quality of food and service. I don't say this lightly but I haven't had such splendid food in a long, long while. Not wanting to dump a whole lot of money in Black Hawk I only got the Ruben and Cheesecake for desert. Let me tell you. It was by far the best Ruben I'd ever had. The balance of flavors just melted in your mouth and thats to say nothing about the desert. In my time I'd like to call myself a bit of a cheesecake aficionado (not really but go with it its my favorite desert). What I was expecting was a piece of pre-frozen New York style cheesecake. What I got was something entirely different. When I previously stated that the Ruben melted in my mouth that would be an understatement. Overall the group of us shared our dishes and were all floored at the quality of our meal.
After leaving stuffed and happy we made our way over to one of the closer casinos Fitzgerald's. I was pretty lucky starting with $5 and quickly made my way up to $35. We all wandered around for a about an hour before making way to the next casino. Unfortunately for me it seemed that the further away from Fitzgerald's we went the worse my luck got. By the end of the night I had pretty much broken even. Which isn't so bad but as they say you shouldn't gamble what you aren't willing to loose.
After a night of fun gambling and drinking we all headed back down the mountain I didn't get home till way past midnight and past out almost as soon as I laid down on my bed.
